The Frog is a very rare timepiece. Only a few watchmakers innovate with every design. MB&F presents the Horological Machine No3 Frog. From the incept of MB&F Haute horlogerie, their main was to bring a childlike imagination to high-end watchmaking. The most striking features are the protruding eyes of the Frog, just like the real animal. The time can be read from many directions. These bulbous domes of the HM3 Frog are different than the cones of the previous HM3. MB&F face the technical challenge of shaping solid metals to preserve the metals strengths. The rotating domes of the hour and minute domes are machined from solid aluminium. They are milled first from the outside and then the inside to get a wall thickness of just 0.28 mm. This reduces the energy they require. The sapphire also has to be shaped and polished to be perfectly uniform. A new gear train was manufactured for the HM3 Frogs engine. A difference is that the hour dome of the Frog indicates 12 hours compared to the 24 hours of the HM3. The lightweight titanium cases are finished by hand. The HM3 Frog is a limited release. The two different editons are titanium case with blue rotor and a black-coated titanium with green rotor. Only a 20 of the standard titanium and 12 of the black-coated titanium will be produced this year.
